Matt Springman is a native of Montoursville, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Susquehanna University, with a minor in English Literature. While at Susquehanna he also had the opportunity to live and study in Turriallba and Dominical, Costa Rica. He was also a four-year letter winner on the baseball team.

Mr. Springman received his J.D. from New England School of Law in Boston. At New England he was an Executive Editor for the New England Journal on Civil and Criminal Confinement, the only legal journal in the country with a focus on the subject. In 2006, his second year at the Journal, he was named editor of the year.

In the summer 2005, Mr. Springman went abroad to study in Ireland where he focused his studies on International Human Rights Law and Humanitarian Law.

Prior to law school, Mr. Springman worked as community organizer in Washington, D.C., for ACORN, where he focused on issues such as predatory lending, housing, and the establishment of a living wage.

As an attorney at Gonzalez & Leigh, Mr. Springman’s practice includes a wide variety of complex civil litigation and criminal defense matters, which included a focus on matters involving civil rights and constitutional violations, police brutality, consumer protection, race, gender, and disability discrimination, and fiduciary duty.
